Michael “Mike” L. Ellis, 64, died July 3, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mike was born in Halifax County September 18, 1948, to Leroy Ellis and Virginia Pepper Ellis. He retired from Sprint Telephone in 2002 and was one of the founding members of The Stray Cats Car Club. One of his passions was working on, and restoring old cars. In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his half-brother, Ronnie Ellis.
Surviving is his mother, Virginia Pepper Ellis of Roanoke Rapids and one son, Coby Ellis of Roanoke Rapids; one granddaughter, Miranda Ellis, of Virginia. Also surviving is a lady he thought of as a sister, LaRose Johnson; two lifelong friends, Jimmie King and Robert Brower and all the members of The Stray Cats Car Club.
Rev. Randy Martin and Chris Wicker will conduct a memorial service at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Sunday July 7, 2013 at 3:30 pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
